Diesel Problem

I'm having trouble with a 6 cyl. Mercedes OM 352
truck engine. It has a Bosch pump. It starts good
but right away starts to cough and stumble with a
dead throttle. After a minute or so it clears up
and runs fine all day. This happens 3 out of 10
start-ups and is driving me nuts. Filters are OK,
no leaks or water. Hate to pull the pump until I
know for sure and it runs perfect except for this. Any of you with diesel knowledge have an
ideas. Many thanks for help
