Just my $.02 worth here. I WAS a long haul owner/operator for many years, experience YEP. First truck KW lopng nose, 1693 Cat 425 HP. That truck was driven by me 425,000 + miles before the engine was opened up to the outside air, and then only because an idiot at the Truck Stops of America grease monkey in Las Cruces cross threaded the drain plug in the oil pan. Go figger. Mext truck Freight Liner with a Cummins KT-600 w/15 speed. Travel 380,00 before any major work. That was after I hauled a Class 90 railroad locomotive from Truxton Ariz to Searchlight Nev. Total gross on 12 axles was 267,000 lbs. I sure left ruts in that highway. I will agree that parts cost more BUT they last much longer. Just remember there are no electrical tune ups, except for the Jake brake on a diesel. Run a rack every hundred thou or so and the engine will outlast the body on light trucks. You have more torque on the bottom thus more power. Top end may be slower, however it can be increased by the right transmixer. Do NOT go with the Allison Automatic, you're throwing money away. Just my $.02 worth.
