You are going to get a great truck whichever you buy. I'm going to give the Duramaxx engine a few years to prove itself before I comment on it. The Cummins and powerstroke engines cannot be throughly evaluated for reliability and longevity yet because most all of those installed in pickups are still running. I've read posts of Cummins with 700K miles on the engine- with considerable work performed, about the same for the powerstroke. The Cummins will get better mileage; the powerstroke is more throttle responsive-stock. I once phoned the Cummins customer center and asked why the B5.9 is so heavy(970lb)and noisy,The man answered " Sir, Cummins builds power. Our engines are capable of producing more HP per CI than any other diesel engine." I have seen a Dodge 3500 Cummins pulling truck that dyno's 700HP and over 1,600lb-ft torque.- http://www.scheiddiesel.com Bottom line, I vote for buying whichever you can get for less money.
