There's a reason passing at an intersection is both illegal and a really bad idea. Of course, just because you can't see the intersection doesn't mean the driver ahead of you isn't turning into a hidden driveway. And half the time, drivers don't bother using their turn signal because they can't be inconvenienced with putting down their phone or cigarette.
One day I was following a slow-moving old pickup. Just as I started to pass him, I saw his right-hand brake light come on. I slammed on the brakes just in time for him to turn left in front of me into a driveway. Yes, his left-hand brake light/turn signal was out.
When I'm riding my motorcycle, I'm very wary of drivers who might turn left in front of me. There's really no 100 percent safe way to pass on a two-lane road.
