Finally had the opportunity to spend some time in my favorite office yesterday afternoon. So far this spring the land I farm has been dry enough to plant for two afternoons only and then the conditions have not been ideal. Been having some trouble with consistent seed depth with the soil being so wet. The field cultivator brought up clods where the tractor duals ran and the ground is packed a little too much in those tracks but what does a guy do? The clock is ticking so we have to decide which is worse, take a possible yield hit from planting into soil that is too wet with inconsistent seed depth in the dual tracks or wait it out and possibly have a decreased yield from late planting. All of the electronics in the world doesn't help when the weather does not cooperate. The rain is coming down again today so the machinery is back in the shed. I am a little over half done planting so at least a little progress has been made.
