Jerry, Several years ago, I had a conversation with a fellow that had a small business. His greatest fear was employing a senior person and then that person having an extended hospital stay with a heart attack or something. He said the insurance company would add a surcharge to his premiums and make it nearly impossible to continue with insurance coverage with the rest of the people. The federal non-discrimination act passed several years ago prohibits discrimination against persons over 40 years old. I orginally was laid off in '98 with 15 years in a company. Of the 56 people laid off then, 15 years was close to the average years served. Several had 20+ years. Hmmm. Younger mangagers don't want senior subordinates because a senior person has already "been there, done that" and they feel insecure in their judgements. KRM
