Copper sulphate does the trick but I had some overspray of 2-4D the other day getting close in weeds around my pond and guess what. After about a week, where I had overspray it decided to turn brown and sink. Nice thing about this time of the year is that there is enough rain to keep the Oxygen level up so you don't have a large fish killoff like happens with weed control in the summer. You do want to leave some of it as "fry" thrive on it.
