It is most likely a Dearborn loader, the implement division of Ford. The front mount pump is standard because of the 8N design. It was not meant to allow the use of external hydraulics, just the internal lift system. Check the loader at the link below, it is my Dearborn loader.

General consensus is that the N's are not well suited for front end loaders. Light front axle makes for hard steering with a loaded bucked. They are a bugger to put on and take off. So the front end loader usually stays on all the time, thus that N is "dedicated" to the loader. Then you need a second tractor for all the other things you want to do. Actually, even modern tractor front end loaders are not the thing you would want to take on and off like you do a 3 point hitch implement, so they stay on the tractor permanently.

You might also check into the Ford 9N,2N,8N board. Lots of guys there with N's that know their stuff.
