My caption would have to be; "Yup, had one just like it". Nearly 50 years ago I bought a 1960 Corvette in need of restoration. It had the base 283 with the wrong (Quadrajet) carburetor on it with an adapter to the manifold. When I removed the carb there was a screw lying on the adapter just about to fall in the manifold (from the carb base plate). I caught it in time and went "whew, that was close". What I didn't do was notice that 2 screws were missing from the bottom of the carb. When I started the engine with the correct carburetor on it the #8 piston got trashed. Live and learn.
