Sure the port reliefs (2) are located on the control valve find the section of the control valve that operates the boom (look for the linkage that moves when you operate the boom lever) the linkage from the boom lever will be connected to the boom section spool and on either side of the section there will be a port relief probably just above the spool on one side and above the spring cap on the other my guess is that either you have a bad port relief or more possibly the o-rings are bad on one relief and is not allowing the hyd. oil to stay where you put it, i.e. you pull the lever to raise the boom and as soon as you let the lever go the oil you just put into the cylinder is going back out by the bad o-ring. the purpose of the port relief is three fold it acts somewhat like a load check (which yours is not doing), it acts as a safety feature like if you were to get it into some kind of bind and the pressure in the cylinder became too much then the relief would open and allow the excess psi back out and finally it allows you to adjust psi in a cylinder if you did not want main relief psi in the system like for instance if main relief psi is set at 2200 and you only wanted 1700 in a particular cylinder you would adjust port relief to get this setting. let me know how it works out.

This article will focus on what I encountered and what I did to bring the 1951 NEAR DEATH Farmall H back to life. ... [Read Article]
