I got my tire machine because of timeliness. The closest tire shop is 10 miles away. Next closest is 15. Then maybe the tire shop is backed up a couple hours when I bring in a tire. When my planter has a flat and rain is in the forecast I want the flat fixed now, time is money sometimes. If a tire machine is purchased just for convenience we have to sit down and consider if the convenience is worth the expense of buying a machine. Then there is the tire shop charge. Ten tire changes per year times $20 or whatever the shop gets plus the expense of the trip to town adds up. A touchy downfall to having a good tire changer is when the neighbors find out you have a tire changer. I’m glad to help my neighbors in a pinch but I am not Jim’s tire shop.
