Take a shovel and take one shovel full out then take a slice out of the side wall of the hole. Make it about inch thick and the full depth of the shovel. Dump that slice into a five gallon bucket. Do this in multiple spots in the field. Your wanting a six-eight inch section of your field's dirt. Dump your bucket full out and let it dry a day or two. Then mix it all up the best you can. Then take a sandwich bag full of the well mixed soil. There is your sample.
