All wet sleeve engines can have that issue. Some designs seems to be more problems than others though. Keeping the DCA or SCA levels in the coolant is VERY important. If the portion of the block is eroded away where to O-rings go a machine shop that works on lots of large diesel engines can repair them. I think they bore it out and press in a repair sleeve.
