That's a lot of question. The answers depend. If your ground is relatively flat, then brakes and tractor weight don't factor into the decision, but if you are in steep country, stopping a full hay wagon can be a challenge. If it is , an A or H can be a little of a challenge. You want filled tires, and brakes that work. As for the mowing, I'm not a big fan of belly mowers. I've owned both, and since most tractors aren't designed for belly mowers, getting them on and off can be a challenge. And when they are on, even up, ground clearance can be limited. But if you only want a hitch on the back, I suppose you'd be alright, but if you want to use a PTO driven rake or something, it's a pain to take the mower off, the get enough clearace for raking. All of this goes away with either a 3-point hitch mower, or a trailer type. Which answers the question why old fords and Fergusons cost so much. Take Care Steve
