Removing GW front end adjusting pins?

The front end adjustment tubes have two pins that go through them with nuts on the side twards the tyrods. Are those pins just tapered or do they screw into the cast tube on the nut side? If no threads, mine are stuck real fast. Any suggestions short of breaking something?
