I've owned an 8N and it was a good tractor. But currently I have three Fergies, two TO30s and a TO35. I also have a Ford NAA. The TO30s will pull like the NAA, and much better than the 8N. As previous post said, they have OHV engine, like the NAA, a big improvement in power over the 8N. As for usefulness, they are the same and will use all same implements, etc., in same way as 8N. I do like the Ford double brake pedals better than the Fergy setup, which works fine but isn't as easy for me, but that's the only thing I like better about the 8N. Parts for the Fergies are no problem. The MF dealers carry them and the mail order houses carry a wide selection for the TO Ferguson tractors. There is one thing to watch out for. The Ferguson TO tractors have a Continental engine which was often prone to cracks in the block if overheated. These can be pinned and properly repaired by a pro (I have one that is pinned), but watch for that. Make sure there is no water in the oil, vice versa, overheating, etc., etc. I wouldn't dismiss one that is pinned, as that's likely ok, rather the one to watch is one cracked and not pinned. The TO30 is a good value, often going around $2500, cheaper than most 8Ns of same quality. Email me if you have questions and I'll do my best to answer. Sorry for long post.
