I've never had an air powered grease gun but have had a couple battery powered ones. I didn't notice them being slow. If anything for precise places they are to fast. I would use the hand pump gun because it was slower. What brands of battery powered did you try? First one I tried was a really cheap thing from Orschelns. It was complete junk and turned me off them until I used my uncle's Lincoln. It was much better so one day I was picking up parts and picked up a Jd gun. It was pretty nice until the batteries died. Local jd told me they couldn't get the batteries any more. My family bought me a Dewalt grease gun for Christmas before I had a chance to find batteries for the jd. I'm not sure about the Dewalt yet. It comes with a shoulder strap to help carry it and you need it. Thing feels like it weighs 50 pounds. I actually prefer the jd but am stuck using the Dewalt.
