I have a '73 Ford backhoe. The tractor is a 4500 (industrial). Its fairly easy to remove the entire hoe from the tractor (and I have done so). The tractor rear-end has all the hard-points for mounting the draw bar and top link, etc (just no PTO or aux hydraulic pump). After pricing a pump and lifter arms, I've decided to fabricate a heavy homemade 3pt hitch with a hydraulic cyl to work each of the two lower arms, but can't find any specs for designing this contraption. All I've found are pin sizes and I need the works: 1)How low/high the arms should travel 2)Range of spread between the lower arms 3)Maximum weight to lift (rule of thumb for box and scrape blades -no PTO driven implements) and lastly... 4)What class (0, I, II, III) can my tractor handle? Anyone know of any sources of info that might help? I'm new to farm tractors, but thanks to you folks, I'm learning fast. - Fred

The need for fabricating becomes obvious when you go to buy any of these
