I had a naturally aspired, '79 4230DC. 400ish cu. in. and although it was setup for a turbo, double grooves in the fan pulleys, 4" exhaust manifold outlet and room in the hood opening for a 4" stack with room for one under the hood it was rated at 100 PTO hp.
The big brother had the turbo and used what I mentioned and was rated 125 hp listed as a JD 4430. When I bought mine, Jan, 2005, it was 3,900 hrs and $17k, full cosmetic restoration including new 134 AC system, all new rubber, full weights...tight as a pin. The big brother was sitting next to it at around 9,000 hrs. loose as a goose and $19k, same restoration condition. Was not sorry for the decision.
Based upon that, if yours had one somebody put it on aftermarket.....shouldn't have been that big of a deal.... add the turbo, a little exhaust piping, second fan belt and a new muffler.
