WOW! So much wrong info on gas vs diesel fuel usage. Straight gas has 114,000 BTU per gallon. ANYTHING added to gas reduces that, ethanol, MBT, or whatever. Straight #2 diesel fuel has 129,500 BTU per gallon. Biodiesel, 100% bio only has 118,300 BTU.
SO, a gallon of diesel does 13.6% more work than gasoline because it has more heat energy.
Neighbor I worked for had 3 4020-D, a 4320, a 4230 with turbo, and a rather tired 4020-G. Any of the diesels pulled his 5-14 F-145 plow in 5th gear burning 5 gallons per hour. Plowed one night with the gas tractor. Could only pull in 4th, and burned about 7 gph, 16 rounds in half mile rows used a full tank of gas in 4 hours. The diesels all ran for almost 7 hours. The difference would be how tired the gas engine was. Diesel engines get VERY stingy with fuel under light loads, they burn fuel in almost perfect proportion to how heavily they are loaded. A gasoline engine has a throttle blade in the carb, which causes pumping losses when not pulling 100% of maximum load.

The nuts and bolts of nuts and bolts is an interesting and essential piece of knowledge that applies to our older tractors. An improperly torqued capscrew on an engine head or a shear bolt that is too hard on the driving shaft of a bushog can create havoc and make an expensive and uncalled for repair. Lets examine the purpose and design of these fasteners in order to ensure their proper use. Fasteners are probably one of the aspects of mechanics that is given the least amount of thought.
