David Brown 880 Selectmatic

I have a question regarding my DB 880 Diesel. I'm having problems starting it but when it does start it will set and idle or run at any RPM while sitting still, but when I try to drive it any distance it may run for a short distance then it dies and is very difficult to start.I have replaced the fuel pump and bled the fuel lines several times but after I try and drive it it may run for 10 yards or 200 yards but them it dies and I have to practically run the battery down to get it to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
