One step beyond RAY,IN's very valid concern is that of your drivers license. Many local law officers look the other way when a load of grain or other farm products goes well beyond the vehicles Gross Weight rating ,but there is another weight limit that the lawyers may not overlook. In my state a class D commercial license only covers trailers of 10,000 pounds or less. Trailers over 10,000 pounds require a class A comercial license. That money may be easy until the fine or lawsuit hits home. If a job is not too far away the simplest bet may be to drive the backhoe to it. I have seen county maintenance units do this in instances where their backhoe operators could not qualify for a class A license or where they did not wish to pay the wage for someone who had one.
