Cliff: My first try at this hobby was my 70. Not knowing any better and wanting to save a few bucks, I opted to purchase the bargain decals, yellow seat cushion, and worst of all, BPS paint. I quickly discovered my error on the seat, and replaced it with correct black. I eventually purchased the correct decals piecemeal to replace my incorrectly positioned "Power Steering" decals, the incorrect "Custom Powrtrol" decal, and I deleted the useless "Close valves" lp decal. The paint looked good for about a year. While I have not repainted the sheetmetal (I had someone do those professionally, and they used hardener) I have since repainted most of the cast iron parts with genuine John Deere Classic Green and have not noticed ANY detrimental effects of painting over the earlier BPS paint. Perhaps if I had switched to a different TYPE of paint there might have been problems, but that is what I did. In another year or two, I may redo the 70, reworking the sheetmetal to remove the few dings it has, purchase Jorde or K&K decals, and repaint it with John Deere Classic Green paint. JD70Jim
