After seeing the old tractor pic today on this forum, I googled “Caterpillar Fifteen” and looked at some of them for sale on eBay. There were a couple tractors on eBay that were rusted and looked in dire need of a restoration.
For some reason that just got me thinking. I think the people growing up today, my generation (I’m in high school), have a duty to restore and preserve old tractors, trucks, machinery, and tools to make sure it isn’t lost to posterity.
Seeing everyone’s amazing projects on this board shows me that people older than me, the people that grew up in the 1940s and 1950s, are doing there part to keep history alive. Part of that reason is probably because they have a direct connection to the tractors because they used them.
People my age didn’t grow up using 1920s tractors like a Caterpillar Fifteen, but I think we still have a duty to restore and preserve antiques so future generations can enjoy and learn from them. I think it’s very sad to see a 1920s tractors just rusting away in some farm field, and even a working tractor from the 1920s that looks like a bucket of rust, both deserve to look new again or at least look nice. Anyways, just felt like sharing my opinion, because todays old tractor picture really got me thinking.
