I would use Aircraft Stripper. It sprays on, dries, and then can be removed with a wire brush, air hose or even water and a cloth.

Removing the last traces of stripper is no problem if you simply wash the part in strong soap and water and then rinse very well. You can also use laquer thinner as a last washing.
