Yes, you can get most of the "wear" parts new for the N-series Fords. And you can get most of the major castings, if you need one, from one of the many salvage yards. The 9N and 8N are, for all intents and purposes, the same engine. True the 8N has a slightly larger displacement, but in a 50 year old engine most people will not see it. The Ford N-series was made to PLOW! In their day they could out plow any of the contemporary two bottom plow tractors or tractors of the same hp rating. The reason was the Ferguson three point hitch and draft control which transfered the plow's "ground suction" load the the rear wheels of the N. Thus the N's got increased traction when plowing without any added weight. Thus an N weighing 2500# plus maybe 600# of fluid in the rear tires could out pull a heavier tractor of the same hp. plowing because the hitch added traction as the plow pulled harder. It is a funny feeling to have the N sink down as you hit heavier soil when you are plowing. Since the top link of the three point hitch pushes the front down and the plow ground suction pulls the rear wheels down, they really do "squat down" as the load gets high. Sort of like the old draft horses when they really "lean" into the harness. :-) It is too bad that the Ford N's can not get that effect when pulling a sled in a pulling contest. Regards, Larry

I have been restoring old Farm Tractors for the past 6 years, and have found it easier and less expensive to hit all the auctions and purchase whole tractors for parts needed. My wife who works at a local school, and only has weekends and summers off, while on t
