I remember being in Canada few years back. went to a store and bought about 50 buck worth of stuff. noticed they charged me like 10 percent then another 13 percent taxes. I asked the lady why it was like this and she said the 13 percent was for national health care. course I could have filed a paper to get that amount back but wasn't that much to fool with. my wife and I are both on Medicare. we have a supplement policy. altogether we pay around 700 a month for insurance protection so 8400 a year. If I spent 60000 a year at 13 percent would be 7800. would be cheaper to have nat coverage here. course if I spend less then it would be more. your right some things in Canada are better, some are worse. guess we all just got to get by.
