Heating oil = diesel, it does not go down this time of year and a tough winter it goes up by February we can�t make enough out of the crude compared to gasoline distilling ratios. Also a rough winter means more snow removal, more heavy equipment running on diesel.
Gasoline over winter can use poorer junk in the mix, stuff that normally evaporates in the heat of summer. So it becomes cheaper but makes poorer mpg over winter. You really aren�t gaining anything with the cheaper prices, the mpg is poorer. My pickup,loses 2mpg.
