While I understand what your saying, and would follow that advice at many auctions. I have an auctioneer acquaintance that I have left maximum bids with when I could not attend one of their auctions. At first I figured If I won the bid, it would be at my maximum price. But have been pleasantly surprised on several occasions that I won the bid at a lower than maximum bid. So there are some auctioneers who will please their audience as well as their customer. gobble
