All I can recommend, is take no shortcuts while you are in there. If the flywheel needs surfacing, do it. Always replace the pilot bearing and release bearing. Check the release linkage, especially where the shaft goes through the housing. Being exposed to salt water it would need to be disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and lubricated.
Be a good time to replace the front transmission seal. Some are easy, some get quite involved.
Any engine leaks, like rear main, oil pan, anything easily accessible now could be addressed.
