If it's just for nostalgia, looks, fun, plinking, the Ruger would be the better gun. Just keep in mind, SA will need the hammer pulled back every time to fire. If it's multi-purpose shooting, self defense, backup, carry gun etc I would get the Charter. I would want to hold each gun and shoot them if possible. The ruger should be more comfortable to shoot, especially with .357, its weight is almost twice the charters. The charter will carry easier with its lightweight. I would probably get the charter, mainly shoot .38spc or +p, and keep .357 loaded for defense
