I thought I had 10 or so bales to bale which is what I got off the second cutting off the same area. I see it was going to be more when I raked it around 10 am yesterday. I baled it around 5 pm yesterday when it was still 90º with the heat index at 97º. I got 27 bales dropping them on the ground and started picking them up with the loader and putting them in the horse trailer after cooling off in the house for a half hour where I see rain head out way on the radar. It was 8:30 pm by the time I had them in the trailer and back in the house soaked with sweat. I brought 2 bales at a time from the field to the trailer behind the house. I scoop up one bale on the go with the loader bucket and lift one bale on top of the one in the bucket. Bales around 40 pounds which is almost my limit to lift anymore.
Start to finish should have been an easy hour job. Set in my easy lift chair after I was done wondering how this all came about. Setting on the tractor watching the windrow going into the baler and hearing the knotters tie a bale every little bit and see them on the ground I felt like I did a 15 when I took over Dads custom baling. Five hours later feeling like I was 90 years old ready for a nursing home.
Good thing is I woke up this morning no worse for the wear and ready to get after what ever is ahead for the day.
