Just went through this with a D15 Diesel this week. The guy had cut away the sheet metal so he didn't have to lift the hood over the muffler. Problem is, when you damage the integrity of the hood and then run it that way for who knows how many years, it gets so warped and twisted, it eventually won't fit. That's how mine was when I got it. I had to bring it back to true (actually as close as I could get it) and then weld the piece back in. Still not happy with it but at least it fits now.
