When that happens one need to trouble shoot the moment it does that #1 check that you have a good blue/white spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap at the center wire of the cap and at the plug wires. #2 pull the carb drain plug and make sure you have good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes. #3 pull the gas cap an listen for suction or air blowing out.
Hard to trouble shoot after it has cooled down since to me that sound like it is heat related
