A problem I've had with two of my Dubuques - and some other guys have experienced it also ........ is that the starter drive does not retract from the flywheel and "jambs" in place, causing the engine to be bound up.
Put it in 4th, and rock it back and forth to see if the fan moves.
Loosen the starter in the bell housing enough to let it wobble around - and see if the engine is stuck.
