My brother has an IH 574 that he purchased used in the winter. He uses this tractor with a 6ft bush hog to mow pasture grass. We installed new points and condensor in the spring prior to mowing season and it runs fine. BUT, recently, it has developed an issue of some kind that causes it to stall after about one hour of use. It has done this three time, and all three times it happened at about the one hour interval. It will be running along fine at full throttle, then just die like you had turned the key off. It starts right back up, but when you put it in gear (manual transmission) it coughs/sputters and most often dies again. He tries putting it in several different gears, but the results are about the same. Runs a bit longer in low gear. I suggest he loosen the fuel cap to see if it may have a vacuum, but that doesn't help. He has NOT removed the sediment bowl to check the screen above that nor has he placed a container beneath the carburetor bowl to check fuel availability. He is not mechanically inclined and I haven't had time....yet. What seems really odd to me is that the "one hour" interval is consistent regardless of under load or not under load. I have read on here that a coil can get hot and cause some issues, but I don't know how to check a coil. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Some purist I'm sure will disagree to no end with what I will tell you but most of us out here in the real world don't really care do we ? Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You
