The Mahaska County fair was going on in Oskaloosa, just 16 miles southeast of Pella where Vermeer Manufacturing got hit. We were there for the beef show that morning and left about an hour before the storm hit. I heard they went into lockdown and secured everyone the best possible in that situation. Fortunately the tornado lifted and went over just a little north of town. Could have been a very bad story if it had hit the fairgrounds.
