Very similar to distributor. Just make sure that points aren't funky, they are gaped right, and plugs in correct position. You didn't say if this is a rebuild or not, but I found that my mag had to be 1 tooth off when mattress with governor to get it to be timed right. Might have been just a bad mag rebuild before I got it.
Also have had some mags that wouldn't spark if they were dry. A little oil in the plugs that say oil here made all the difference.
