Haven't made hay since 81. Prior to that with the 5 & 6' horse drawn mowers started leaving back cut and had to do 2 of them because mower was not wide enough to do back cit in one pass. After we got the 7' tractor mower after a few years of problems getting the back cut done figured out that if we did the back cut first then we could just turn around and drive over the back cut and that was perfect width to then get second round cut with no uncut hay. When we got the 9' Case 555 mower-conditioner it was very easy to do back cut first ant turn around and finnish field. And awways mowed around and around, no cuting one way, not going to wast time running empty across ends and also running over the cut hay dozens of times. If you have a hydra swing then possibly back and forth could work OK but not with a unit that only cut on the right. After we started doing back cut first had no longer problem with mower pluging trying to get that back cut done.
