We had 80-100 foot strips. Sometimes a mile or more long. Always cut backwards or counter clockwise first and then clockwise. Most fields were five nine foot passes with a foot or two left. Contour strips would occasionally have a triangle shaped piece. 130 or so acres on four cuts. Twelve foot was less Never had too much trouble with the 990,1190 or the discbine. The pt 10 didn�t like it very well. It all depends on how wet it was when cutting. Dad was doing it that way from the sickle mower up until the year 2000 when I left farming.
