If it is one of my fields I do I just as you say. If I am cutting a field I don�t know as well I go around twice and then do the backswath. That way if there were any treasures to remember and avoid they are fresh in my mind. Then I go back and finish the field. I don�t seem to remember those obstacles until I have hit them as I get older!
That said, I don�t worry about my fields as I monitor them and know what is there. I tend to be a creature of habit and always mow the same way, disk the same way, plant the same way, etc. It would kill me to go to a field and disk the first pass with the edge on my left. I just can�t do it - it doesn�t feel right.
