I-29 on the western state line runs North - South in the Missouri River valley. That valley cuts through an area known as the Loess Hills. The hills are most well formed between Sioux City and south to Blenco. If you are in that part of the state, look for interpretive centers. These are not spectacular hills but they are uniquely formed; they are artifacts from the Ice Age. The only other place in the world with loess hills like these is in the middle of China.
