If you have the old style breather, here is a picture of it I found. Look at the holes that have to be open. Fiber disk valve clearance should not exceed .045. Do not force the wire gauge to check that clearance as it will warp the fiber disk. If you have a tube type vent system, make sure is attached and the tube in not cracked. It goes into the air cleaner to prevent dirt getting into the engine. A clogged air cleaner will make it burn oil, as well as an overfilled engine,
