You will get what you pay for, usually. I had a Deere MX8 and didn't like the quality of cut. I bought a new Bush Hog 3008 and it cut much better and has been a great machine. I put 3-400 hours a year on it doing custom mowing, bought it back in 2011 and have only replaced blades (fairly cheap) and each of the solid tires (probably do to the rocks and rough fields I cut). I liked it so well I bought a second one a couple of years ago when I heard they were discontinuing that model. The shorter deck and two tail wheels are a big plus as you will get less scalping. I use a 65 hp tractor with the wheels set out to 8' for the best cut. It will take about a 90" wheelbase to handle this mower if you get the 3pt model.
