You have to be fingerprinted for the background check several weeks before you go in to get your license. Louisiana now gives a 6 year license. Catch is the back ground check is only good for 5 years. So you pay for 6 years but it expires 5 years from the date you were finger printed. For this reason hazmat license do not expire on your birthday any more.
