John,something just crossed my mind. We had a woman who came in for about 12-15 years straight complaining that her assessment was way more than half of what true cash value should have been. She even hired a lawyer. She got to be such a pain in the neck that we just started humoring her and sitting there year after year and taking it from her just to appease her and get her out the door.
We got a new assessor and she finally figured out what the problem was. There's a window that the assessor can open up in the program and change the ratio. The old assessor had opened that up somehow and had her on at 70% or true cash value instead of 50%. Go in and make darned sure that box has you at 50%. If it's not,no matter what BOR or the Tribunal sets it at,when the township values go to the county the next year,it'll raise your value back up to 70% of true cash again. We can only hope that it's as simple as that.
