Well no JD three point has down force. On the right side of the top of the transmission there is a short lever with 3-4 notches. The letters L,LD, D will be stamped by those notches.
The letters stand for: L= load/draft control LD= load control with more depth control D= depth control with no draft at all. Also called position control.
Yours sounds like it is in load/draft control. They will lift all the way up with little movement on the control lever. Set it in Depth/position control and the hitch will respond directly with the control lever. Move the level a little and the hitch moves a little.
This lever is easy to hit with your foot getting on and off with rubber boots on.
