You know who he is and you know where he lives? Mail him a check and a note and put the item back up for sale. What are your damages that you are entitled to keep his money? He has a family and small kids and you have your tractor and his money. For me this is an ethical question, not a legal question. If you go with me on ethics then you are trying to do what is right. If you start looking at it as a legal issue, then I see it as you trying to find an excuse to keep his money AND the tractor.
