: : After removing the hydraulic pump from my 46 M Farmall, I found that I could not get the yoke off the shaft that turns the pump. It has to come off in order to replace the seal. How does the yoke come off? Thanks for any help! : We have the same problem on an MD. Mechanic told us to put a thin piece of wood between the gears, make a "wrench" with some square stock to fit the slot and a long handle, and turn the nut off. It is a "nut" on the shaft, the thread is left or right depending on what would tighten the nut when it was driving the pump. We haven't had a chance to try the remedy. I let you know if we were successful. You can try it and let me know how it turned out! I have already tried something similar to this. I tried making a wrench out of square stock like you said. After this I put the PTO in gear because they are on the same gear when you put it in gear, then I put a pipe wrench on the PTO shaft while my Dad turned the homemade wrench on the yoke . We turned the opposite way the pump turns and it still did not work. Maybe it will work for you! Let me know if it does or if you think of something else. Thankyou for the information!
