The engineers that botched the turbo specs were not experienced in that field . They could have just called the turbo manufacture .
We have problems with engineers insisting on specs different than what the manufacture recommends . Causes all manner of equipment problems and re-work.
Recently our engineers messed up the new fire detection system and CO2 suppression . Edwards had everything working as required and to code , our engineer demanded specs and functions that the processor and hardware is not capable . No at a standstill because safer is better.
Then at another location the engineers thought the louder the bell on the trolley crane , the safer it would be. They mounted a locomotive horn that is so loud that staff inside two buildings away were complaining. The horn is so loud that 33db ear plugs and external ear protection muffs are required together . The sound is so intense that verbal communication is no longer possible . So much for safer. Engineer knew nothing about cranes but thought he did .
